First up this week, we have two reprints of books I've reviewed in this space previously. The first is Claire Cross's Double Trouble (ISBN 0425201791) (Berkley), with Maralys winding up helping out her twin sister's husband James with their kids when her sib disappears. Rather than the original paperback version, this time, it's out in trade size paperback for those who wanted it and missed it the first time around.
The second is the paperback release of Julia Ross's The Wicked Lover (ISBN 0425199967) (Berkley). Robert Sinclair Dovenby, or Dove, has just been tossed out by his latest lady love and come home to find his home being ransacked. Sylvie Georgiana poses as 'George', trying to discover if Dove has betrayed his country. I remember liking this one, though perhaps not as much as previous stories by Ms. Ross.
Finally, we have the latest from Julia Ross, Night of Sin (ISBN 0425200132) (Berkley). Lord Jonathan St. George has come home from his travels in the Far East and finds himself entangled with Anne Marsh, an unwitting participant in the theft of an artifact. Jack is a little too tortured for me--Ms. Ross has a penchant for dark, tortured heroes, something I've had a love-hate relationship with in past books--and Anne just a little too optimistic considering her circumstances. Still, if you're looking for steam, you'll find plenty of it here. I'm afraid, though, this one isn't a keeper for me. I just couldn't quite believe in this tale. It's earned three arrows.
