Memorable Dates In Grammy History

The annual Grammy awards honor the best in music for the past year. We take a look at the dates that the Grammies have been held and who were some of the winners.

May 4, 1959 - The 1st Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California. Winners included Perry Como, Ella Fitzgerald and the Kingston Trio.

November 11, 1959 - The 2nd Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Bobby Darin, Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra.

April 12, 1961 - The 3rd Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Ray Charles, Bob Newhart and Marty Robbins.

May 29, 1962 - The 4th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Chubby Checker, Jimmy Dean and Judy Garland.

May 15, 1963 - The 5th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Tony Bennett, Burl Ives and Peter, Paul & Mary.

May 12, 1964 - The 6th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Bobby Bare, Ray Charles and Barbra Streisand.

April 13, 1965 - The 7th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included The Beatles, Petula Clark and Roger Miller.

March 15, 1966 - The 8th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Bill Cosby, Tom Jones and the Statler Brothers.

March 2, 1967 - The 9th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included David Houston, the Mamas & the Papas and Frank Sinatra.

March 9, 1968 - The 10th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included The Beatles, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Boris Karloff and Tammy Wynette.

March 12, 1969 - The 11th Grammy Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Winners included Jeannie C. Riley, Simon & Garfunkel and Dionne Warwick.

March 11, 1970 - The 12th Grammy Awards were held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Winners included Johnny Cash, Crosby Stills & Nash and Blood Sweat & Tears.

March 16, 1971 - The 13th Grammy Awards were held at the Century Plaza Hotel. Winners included Lynn Anderson, the Carpenters and Dionne Warwick.

March 15, 1972 - The 14th Grammy Awards were held at Felt Forum in New York City, New York. Winners included Carole King, Carly Simon and James Taylor.

March 3, 1973 - The 15th Grammy Awards were held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Winners included Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes and Charlie Pride.

March 2, 1974 - The 16th Grammy Awards were held at the George Gershwin Theater in New York City. Winners included Bette Midler, Charlie Rich and Stevie Wonder.

March 1, 1975 - The 17th Grammy Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Winners included Paul McCartney with Wings, Ronnie Milsap, Anne Murray and Olivia Newton John.

February 28, 1976 - The 18th Grammy Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium. Winners included Natalie Cole, The Eagles and Willie Nelson.

February 19, 1977 - The 19th Grammy Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium. Winners included Chicago, Ronnie Milsap and Linda Ronstadt.

February 23, 1978 - The 20th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Winners included the Bee Gees, Kenny Rogers and James Taylor.

February 15, 1979 - The 21st Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Barry Manilow, Dolly Parton and Donna Summer.

February 27, 1980 - The 22nd Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included the Charlie Daniels Band, the Doobie Brothers and Billy Joel.

February 25, 1981 - The 23rd Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Winners included Pat Benatar, George Jones and Bob Seger.

February 24, 1982 - The 24th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Kim Carnes, the Oak Ridge Boys and the Police.

February 23, 1983 - The 25th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Alabama, a Flock of Seagulls and Survivor.

February 28, 1984 - The 26th Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Culture Club, Michael Jackson and the Police.

February 26, 1985 - The 27th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included the Judds, Merle Haggard, Prince and Tina Turner.

February 25, 1986 - The 28th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Phil Collins, Dire Straits and Whitney Houston.

February 24, 1987 - The 29th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included the Eurythmics, Reba McEntire and Robert Palmer.

March 2, 1988 - The 30th Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Bruce Springsteen, Randy Travis and U2.

February 22, 1989 - The 31st Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Tracy Chapman, Jethro Tull and George Michael.

February 21, 1990 - The 32nd Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Metallica, Milli Vanilli and the Traveling Wilburys.

February 20, 1991 - The 33rd Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Aerosmith, Mariah Carey, Vince Gill and the Kentucky Headhunters.

February 25, 1992 - The 34th Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Bonnie Raitt, REM and Van Halen.

February 24, 1993 - The 35th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Eric Clapton, Celine Dion and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

March 1, 1994 - The 36th Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Brooks & Dunn, Ozzy Osbourne and Pink Floyd.

March 1, 1995 - The 37th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Sheryl Crow, the Rolling Stones and Soundgarden.

February 28, 1996 - The 38th Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Alison Krauss, Alanis Morissette, Pearl Jam and Seal.

February 26, 1997 - The 39th Grammy Awards were held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Winners included Eric Clapton, LeAnn Rimes and the Smashing Pumpkins.

February 25, 1998 - The 40th Grammy Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall. Winners included Bob Dylan, Elton John and the Wallflowers.

February 24, 1999 - The 41st Grammy Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium. Winners included Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz and Shania Twain.

February 23, 2000 - The 42nd Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Winners included Christina Aguilera, George Jones and Sarah McLachlan.

February 21, 2001 - The 43rd Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Macy Gray, Faith Hill and U2.

February 27, 2002 - The 44th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.

February 23, 2003 - The 45th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Alan Jackson, Norah Jones and No Doubt.

February 8, 2004 - The 46th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included the Foo Fighters, Pink and Justin Timberlake.

February 13, 2005 - The 47th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Green Day, Tim McGraw and Velvet Revolver.

February 8, 2006 - The 48th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5 and Keith Urban.

February 11, 2007 - The 49th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center. Winners included Mary J. Blige, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Carrie Underwood.
