This all one length haircut causes the hair to appear thicker and heavier than it would with a layer cut. One characteristic of this style, considered by some as a drawback, is that will generally be flat on top. The ends will also be straight unless they have a natural wave or are encouraged to curl with styling product and round brush, curling iron or flat iron.
One length hair that is trimmed anywhere between ear length to just below the chin is often called a bob. | One length hair that is trimmed to shoulder length or up to about three inches longer is often called a page or page boy. |
Undercut
A variation of the blunt cut is the undercut. In this style, the underneath layers are trimmed slightly shorter to encourage the ends on top to curl under. In this cut, the nape section is cut to the desired level, then, each layer after that is cut slightly longer creating a concave effect. Undercutting softens the look of the style while keeping a very smooth appearance. This type of cut often eliminate the need for curling it. At the most, it requires a little encouragement with a blow dryer and round brush.
The bob and page that are described here are the original forms of the cuts. Since we are a creative culture, there are now many variations of each style. Creative use of layering changes the feeling of the style while staying within the boundaries of the bob hair cut or page hair cut. Look into the Bobs link under the Subjects category on the Main Page of the Hair Site to see many more styles of Bobs.
