Exercising Simply

Research shows that the more physically active you are the healthier you are and the less health problems you will have. You don’t have to spend a lot of money by joining a fancy gym or buying expensive equipment. Follow these simple tips and you will be feeling better in your body in no time.
• Take a daily walk. Make time to get outdoors and walk for at least thirty minutes and an hour is even better. Not only will it lift the spirits, it will get your heart beating and you will feel so good afterwards. If you have kids, take them along in the stroller or on their bikes.
• Think about the calories you burn while cleaning the house. Is your home looking like it has seen better days? You can kill two birds with one stone by giving your house a “deep clean”. Get the mops, brooms, and dusters out and give your house a thorough cleaning.
• Do you have a lawn that needs tending to? Mow it yourself instead of hiring an outside service. Better yet, use a mower that is not self-propelled.
• Walk to do your errands if it is reasonable to do so. Is your house near a grocery store or a place where you can run your errands? Consider walking there instead of driving.
• If you can’t walk to do your errands, park farther away so you get a workout while you are running errands.
• Break your exercise into smaller chunks. If the thought of doing all of your exercise in one sitting leaves you cringing, do it in small increments throughout the day. Research shows that the benefits are the same.
• Look into the exercise channel on your TV. Many exercise channels are popping up and they provide a great variety of shows. You can find yoga, aerobics, belly dancing and more on these channels. Pick a show a week to add some variety to your workout.
• Rent exercise DVD’s from your local library. The library has a wealth of videos for every level.
• Are you at the park with your children? Look out for circuit trainers that many parks have. There may be different stations throughout the park that work on training different body areas. Take advantage of these while your children play.
• Investigate your local community center. Oftentimes if you have a community center in your neighborhood and you are a resident you can get discounts on using the facilities. Take advantage of your local pool and gym.

Exercising needn’t be expensive or time consuming. Realizing that there are many opportunities throughout the day to get your heart pumping is half the battle, maintaining a daily exercise program is the other. With these simple and basic tips you will turn out a winner every day!
