Peptic Ulcers - A Natural Cure in Neem

Stomach ulcers can have a variety of causes but ultimately it comes down to a bacterial invasion of the gut wall. NSAIDS, (Ibuprofen, Celebrex, Advil) alchohol and hyochloridia can cause the errosion of the stomach wall which leads to the invasion of bacteria. H-pylori is most common. Likely they have not learned to diagnose of other bacteria yet. Symptoms may range from mild GI upset after meals to gut wrenching pain and acid reflux. Here is an alternative natural remedy known for curing ulcers.

Low stomach acid can contribute to ulcers becasue if the stomach is not acid enough it permits for a wide range of bacteria to live in the stomach and possibly invade the stomach lining, such as you have with an ulcer.

Symptoms may include: Stomach pain, belching, nausea, heartburn, bloating and in severe cases black tarry stool, bloody vomit. Symptoms may be mild or extreme.

Conventional allopathic medicine uses large dosages of antibiotics along with an antacid like prevaid. The dangers of antibioitc usage are well known and some patients require more than one round of treatmen for a cure, making for double jeopardy in the risks of antibiotic usage.

Neem bark extract has been found to be curative for peptic ulcer disease.
The following is a quote from the study linked at the bottom of this article.

"The bark extract when taken at the dose of 30-60 mg twice daily for 10 weeks almost completely healed the duodenal ulcers monitored by barium meal X-ray or by endoscopy.

One case of esophageal ulcer (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and one case of gastric ulcer also healed completely when treated at the dose of 30 mg twice daily for 6 weeks.

The levels of various blood parameters for organ toxicity after Neem treatment at the doses mentioned above remained more or less close to the normal values suggesting no significant adverse effects. Neem bark extract thus has therapeutic potential for controlling gastric hypersecretion and gastroesophageal and gastroduodenal ulcers."

Neem has been successfully utilized in India for many years for peptic ulcer disease. It is also recognized for reducing hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which during the healing process is essential for wound healing. If the acid is not controlled during the active ulcer phase the acid will continue to degrade the gut wall even if antibiotics are applied. After the ulcer is cured Neem extract should be discontinued as the stomach needs high levels of hydrochloric acid for proper digestion. Low levels can actually contribute to formin a new ulcer.
