Quarterbacks 102

This is Football 101: Quarterbacks Part 2. This article will highlight 5 other quarterbacks who have made history. Study this and then take my quiz to see if you learned anything.

Steve Young is a member of the 2005 Hall of Fame class. He is the first left handed quarterback to be elected to the Hall. In 1984, Young was drafted by Tampa Bay where he stayed one season and then was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. At San Francisco, he is only one of two quarterbacks ever to win 6 NFL passing titles. The highlight of his career was Super Bowl XXIX when he threw 6 touchdowns to be Super Bowl MVP. He retired from the 49ers in 1999.

Brett Favre is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and played for one season with them. He was traded to Green Bay and has been playing there since 1992. His first throw in the NFL was deflected and he caught it. But he has stepped up since and become the NFL's only 3 time season MVP. He also led Green Bay to win Super Bowl XXXI. There are rumors that he may retire soon, but he still has to wait 5 years after retiring to have a chance to be in the Hall of Fame.

John Elway was the first overall draft pick for the Indianapolis Colts, but was traded to the Denver Broncos. With the Broncos, he started 5 Super Bowls. They won 2 of the 5 games. He led fourth quarter comebacks a record 47 times in his career and played in nine Pro Bowls. He retired after 15 seasons in 1998 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2004.

Troy Aikman was the first overall draft pick in 1989 by the Dallas Cowboys. He played with the Dallas Cowboys for all 12 seasons of his career. Aikman played in and won three Super Bowls, XXVII , XXVII, and XXX. He retired in 2000 after a number of concessions. Now he is a sportscaster.

Joe Montana was a third round draft pick in 1979 by the San Francisco 49ers. He led the 49ers to four Super Bowl wins and earned 3 Super Bowl MVPs. Even though he missed the full 1991 season due to injury, he still passed for over 40,000 yards in his career. He retired from the Kansas City Chiefs after 2 seasons in 1994 and became a Hall Fame member in 2000.

Football 101 part 1 highlighted the other 5 quarterbacks for my quiz.
