Ideas for Christmas Crochet Gifts

There is nothing quite like a handmade gift, and Christmas is a great time to give families and friends something a little special. There are lots of small crocheted items that are quick to do, but look lovely when finished.

Have a rummage through your yarn stash and see what you have to hand. I am sure that you will find plenty of odds and ends which can be put to good use for a quick but very personal handcrafted gift.

Here are some ideas from our BellaOnline project gallery which might be of interest. These are easy to adapt and can be personalized and varied as you like. All of these projects are quick to do and are a great way to use up some of your yarn stash!

Crochet Lavender Cushions
Crochet Lavender Cushions are quick and easy to make however make great gifts and are a lovely way to use up some odds and ends of thread whilst making something useful.

These little cushions have been made with lavender, however they would work equally well stuffed with wadding that has been sprinkled with some fragrance oil. Christmas fragrances include cinnamon and orange.

Crochet Earrings
Small crocheted motifs make lovely earrings. These are easy and quick to do and make a great gift. These require just a tiny amount of thread or yarn and several pairs can be made in an evening!

Pixie Purse Pattern
A pattern for an attractive purse made simply from Single Crochet (Double Crochet UK). This purse is an unusual shape and is easily adapted. When worked in pure wool the purse can be felted - remember it will end up much smaller however after felting!

Neckwarmers to Crochet
Neckwarmers make a great gift. They are quicker to make than a scarf and use less yarn. They are also very easy to adapt, different yarns will give a completely different feel to the finished item.

Skinny scarfs are also quick and easy to do - and are very fashionable at the moment. Add a few beads for a glamorous feel.

When giving your hand made crocheted items as gifts don't forget the final presentation! Make hand written labels with information about the item, how you made it, any special care requirements - for instance washing instructions and if you have a website don't be shy, this is a good way to promote yourself and let people know what else you do.
