Auto Color restoration--After Winter's wrath

Most paint finishes, 3 years and older need to be restored occasionally--especially directly after Winter's elements have taken their toll on the hood, doors and trunk.

Salt, road film, oxidation etc. have a tremendous effect on our vehicles' finishes. You might notice your color is not quite as bright during your Winter car washes and that is in the warmer months and that's because once this film gets on your vehicles, it adheres to your finish's clear coat, making it cloudy or dull instead of clear. This is one huge advantage for having clear coat. It not only protects your color from fading, it also protects it from salt, road film, soap film and anything else we batter our finishes with during the winter.

My very first detailing advice is to first wash your car. I recommend Eagle One's New Easy Dri Car Wash. Not only will your vehicle be truly clean--as clean as need be to proceed to the next step and you won't have to dry it afterward. It doesn't get any better than that! Next comes the Cleaner Wax. I have found Meguiar's to do the BEST job for cleaning your finish deeply. I am always amazed because it has done its job on EVERY vehicle I've ever detailed. I always recommend the Cleaner Wax step because your finish has to be clean enough to receive and absorb the next implement which is your Wax! Now that my finish is the CLEANEST it is going to get, I want to deepen my vehicle's truest color so I will use Turtle Wax's Color Rx. This will make your reds, really red and your blues, really blue not to mention the blackest of black! It has the same properties as regular wax--it just has color in it. I totally love this stuff! When I use the Color Rx, I like to start from the roof, to the hood and trunk and then finally, the doors and skirting. A light coat is all you need--just a haze will do ya'. I apply it onto my entire vehicle, let dry thoroughly and wipe off with a clean white terry towel--you will need at least 6 to do this step because each area, the hood, roof and trunk will need the most detailing. These areas are affected most in heat and sun. They are also the areas that tend to fade from these elements. If I really want to get Jiggy, I spray Eagle One's Nano Spray Wax onto my vehicle for maximum POW! Finally, I spray Turtle Wax Platinum Series Detailing Mist on my edges, corners and sides so when I'm coming down the street, they'll be blinded by the shine!!! And never, ever forget your tires and rims people!!! Trust me, you'll be so happy to be back in the driver's seat! Keep it clean and shiny! P
