Terminator Salvation - Christian Bale

Being quite a fan of the original Terminator movie, I was very skeptical about this one. However, I have mentioned before I am a huge Christian Bale fan, so I thought I would try it. I was pleasantly surprised that this one was as good as it was. Christian Bale plays John Connor, the son of Sarah Connor from the original Terminator played by Linda Hamilton. Set in the year 2018 John Connor leads a rebellion by the Resistance against the machines.

John of course cannot accomplish this alone so he receives aid from a man named Marcus Wright, played by Sam Worthington. With Marcus' aid John is able to infiltrate Skynet. Marcus disables the perimeter defenses, which allows John to make his way through Skynet setting charges and freeing the captured prisoners as he goes. John also discovers among the prisoners is none other than Kyle Reese his father, played by Anton Yelchin who is also being held captive at the Skynet facility and targeted for termination. Kyle, being only a teenager had not yet went through time to meet Sarah to become John’s father. John realizes that without Kyle, he would never be born and the Resistance would never come into being, and the machines would ultimately wipe out the human race.

There is a lot of action in this movie, which I love but it also has some good character development especially with Sam Worthington’s character Marcus. He turned out to be my favorite. As good as the movie is here are the mistakes I found.

When the upper half of a terminator is attacking John, it pulls off John’s boot. As he grabs the machine gun and places his feet against the edge of the helicopter his boot is back on. After shooting the Terminator, he falls back and his boot is back on again.

When John and Marcus face off with each other, Marcus’ damaged face keeps changing.

After meeting up, Marcus and Blair, played by Moon Bloodgood, decide to travel together. Marcus leaves her for a bit and three large men move in on Blair and start to attack her. Shortly before this, it is poring down rain. After Marcus takes out the three men, he oddly finds dry wood to burn and everything around them is completely dry.

These are hardly movie breakers as far as mistakes go, and I highly recommend going to see Terminator Salvation, however, if you have never seen any of the previous Terminator movies this one would be quite confusing. If you want to see this one please see at least the first Terminator before you go.
