This time Miss Marple is played by wonderful British actress Geraldine McEwan. Some may remember her from last years Carrie's War, Vanity Fair or Lady Southdown. However, I remember Geraldine McEwan best as Rose Farnaby from the slightly dark British comedy Mulberry, a lovely gift from Britain to America by way of PBS. Mulberry is Death's son and has been sent by his father, to locate Ms. Miss Farnaby and return with her. Kind hearted and lovable, Mulberry fails his assignment miserably by becoming Ms Farnaby's friend and generally making a friendly nuisance of himself. It is hard for me to imagine Geraldine McEwan as Ms. Marple, so I look forward to the airing of this series.
The first of the series, Murder at the Vicarage, will air this month on April 17 and April 24. Colonel Protheroe has made many enemies in St. Mary-Mead. Someone has had enough of the loathsome Colonel and sent him to an early grave by a bullet. As usual Miss Marple offers her snooping skills and assistance to the village's Inspector Slack. Actor Derek Jacobi is the Inspector, he was Brother Cadfael in the old BBC television series Cadfael.
