13 new tatters fledged and more

The International Organization of Lace sponsored their annual convention in Coralville Iowa at the end of June. I was delighted to have been invited to teach a class of beginning tatters.

This 6-hour class had 13 students who learned needle tatting in the morning and shuttle tatting in the afternoon. And everyone learned both styles. Some were even helping to teach others. All tatters experimented with beaded tatting, too. These dedicated tatters absorbed techniques like a sponge.

I was proud.

Now I am looking forward to the annual Palmetto Tat Days over the first weekend of September. There are going to be 20 international tatting teachers. The variety of classes offered cover techniques of all kinds from basic tatting to cluny leaves, inverted tatting, to tatting over wire.

The annual tatting scholarship fundraiser has really unique items for gifts and for the holidays. Just look:

I am so proud of all the tatters who donated their time and tatting to support the scholarship program. Donations: http://tatdaysscholarship.info/index.shtml Just click on the names at the top on the green banner.

And at the end of September, September 25 & 26, 2015 , the Fringe in Canada tatters are hosting their 10th annual tat days. I am so delighted to be asked to teach alongside the famous Jane Eborall, Judith Connors, Jennifer Williams, and Heather Lickley. (By the way, Heather is the author of "ELGIVA NICHOLLS, TATTER :
LIFE AND CAREER 1900—1982." It is a wonderful study of the British tatter, tatting historian and researcher. Elgiva's study of tatting still inspires tatters today, me inlcuded.)
