Wix Editor - Add Text

One of the greatest features of the Wix Editor is that you can just drag and drop design elements on to your webpage. You have many choices of elements. Let's take a look at the Text element.

To add a text box to your page, simply click the Plus icon in the Editor's left menu. This will open a list of elements that can be added to your page. At the top of the list, select Text to open the Add Text menu.

Add Text

In the Add Text menu, you can choose to use the Themed Text, which has several options including the Site Title, Page Title, Large Heading, Small Heading and paragraphs. Under the Themed Text is the Titles section including titles in many font styles. Under this is the Paragraphs section, including several choices of preset fonts from Helvetica Light to Georgia.

Click on your choice of text box and a new text box will display on the page. Drag the box to the correct location and begin to customize the text by changing the default text to your text.

  1. Select the text element.

  2. Click Edit Text from the pop up menu above the text box.

You will see the default text become highlighted and the Text Settings window opens.

  3. Type or paste in your text.

  4. Customize the Theme, Font, Font Size, Font Style, alignment, effects and spacing.

Change the Font

You can choose any of the Wix fonts from the list or upload your own font. Just click the arrow at the right to open the fonts menu. Use the link at the bottom of the menu to upload your own font.

Change the Font Size and Style

Use the slider, or type in the font size, to change the font size. Use the icons below the slider to add styling and alignment.

Add a Link

You can add a link to an external webpage, another page of your site, an email, a document or another area of the same page (anchor link). Click the Link icon to turn the selected text in to a link.

Add Effect

Next, you will see the Effects section with several icons for adding drop shadows, blur, outline, glows and more.

Spacing

Under this is the Spacing slider to control the line spacing.

Save Change to Theme

Once you have made any changes in the Text Settings window, you will see a Save Theme link appear in the Themes section and an asterix next to the current theme. Click this Save Theme link to update the default theme settings to your own.

Going back to the selected text on the webpage, you will see another icon in the pop up menu. Next to the Edit Text icon is the Animate icon. Click this to add your choice of several animations to the selected text.
