Captain's Hostel Shanghai China

Great news for backpackers in Shanghai, China! The International Youth Hostel Federation has a new hostel in the city. The Captain’s Hostel is located in the at No. 37 Fuzhou Road in the Hangpu District. The Hangpu District is by the river of the same name.

The dorm rooms in the Captain's Hostel vary from four to eight beds in a room. A sailor bunk in a dorm is 60 yuan. There are single bedrooms for rent on the premises. The maximum price for a single is 1200 yuan. This is quite reasonable for sleeping quarters in the Pudong New Area.

The Captain’s Hostel is only steps from the Bund. View the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower and the Jin Mao Mansion (Jinmao Tower) across the Hangpu River. The hostel is one block from Nanjing Road. Metros for Lines 1 & 2 are two blocks away with connections to Pearl Metro Line.

The Captain’s Hostel has bikes for rental. There is a down payment requirement with hourly fees. There are special activities for making Chinese folk handcrafts and traditional snacks. Check at the desk for a schedule of events.

The Captain’s Hostel offers several amenities for travelers. All rooms have 24 hour hot water showers. Facilities are available for self-service laundry. There is an internet bar. On the rooftop, there is a bar with beer for purchase. A large conference is on the site, too.

The telephone number is 86-21-63235053 and the fax number is 86-21-63219331 Contact the Captain’s Hostel at Captain@CaptainHostel.com.cn Check out time is 12 noon.

Invest in a passport holder and keep your documents save. I prefer the kind which is waterproof and worn as belt around the waist. It is worn under your clothes and not seen by others. There is a zipper compartment divided for passport, money and credit cards. It is so comfortable the wearer can sleep with it around the waist.

The type which hang about the neck invites trouble and who wants someone pulling on a strong cord around the neck. Remember to carry the amount of money needed for the day’s activities in your pocket and the rest placed away safely.
