Gardening Kits as Holiday Gifts

Now that Halloween has past the Christmas season is in full swing. When it comes to gift ideas for gardeners, gardening kits are always a great choice. There is one to suit every price range and interest. As a matter of fact, these items make a wonderful gift whatever the occasion.

The Potting Shed Creations brand of gardening kits is available at retail stores. They offer garden in a bag kits with the choices including a Christmas tree kit and a sunflower kit. I especially like their paperwhite winter garden kit as well as the bonsai crepe myrtle. The garden in a bag Christmas Lights Pepper kit is great as well.

Another company called Noted has delightful garden kits for all ages, but especially for children. This firm’s products are often sold at museum and botanical garden gift shops. They have matchstick gardens with the choices including assorted herb seeds or wildflower seed mix.

Their Seedboms also make great garden gifts. Gardeners can choose from the Pollination Beebom and the Butterflybom.

For children, Noted also markets a really cute herb kit called a mug garden. The white mug, which is used for growing the herb seeds, is decorated with animal characters that would appeal to children.

The DuneCraft brand has many gardening kits for children and adults. For adults, I highly recommend the Madagascar palm plant cube and the Plants that Work Aloe plant kit. This company also offers a beautiful park-in-a-bottle terrarium with tree seeds as well as a lovely bonsai rock garden and a cactus garden.

One of the most unusual lines of gardening gift kits is marketed by the Patent Magic Plant or Magic Plant. The seeds are embedded in a greeting card. Once the seeds are removed from the paper and planted, they sprout. As the seedling grows, an engraved message will appear on the plant’s leaves. The Magic Bean card is an example.

Gardeners can choose from a variety of Magic Plant messages, depending on the occasion and the type of plant. There are cards for eighteen types of flower seeds, nine types of herb seeds, an assorted cactus seed mix, five kinds of tree seeds, and six types of vegetable seeds. There is also a card with strawberry seeds.

Another specialty of this company is the hot chile pepper plant kits. Gardeners can select from five types of very hot chiles.
