Review - Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark was released last year. It's a combination of a web app and three mobile apps, for DIY graphic design for social posts, mini webpages, video and much more. With the cloud, your projects are available on both the web platform and the mobile apps.

In the past, Adobe software was designed for the professional, resulting in huge complicated software that only the professional's budget could afford. But, Adobe Spark is designed specifically for you and me. That is, it is for small businesses and other users that don't have an extensive budget or need for large professional grade software. Adobe Spark users can create professional looking graphics and video without the huge price tag. In fact, Adobe Spark has both a free and paid subscription. Like other products such as this, Adobe Spark offers a categorized library of content for use in your projects.

Adobe Spark Post

This part of Spark is for DIY social and other graphics. It is very similar to Canva.com, as you can combine text, images and other design elements for final projects. It's easy to share your finished graphics to social sites or print.

You can start with a pre-made design or template but you can also start a design from scratch. However you choose to begin, you can change any design element, such as design templates, layouts, styles, filter effects, color palettes and more.

Adobe Spark Page

With Spark Page, you can create what Adobe calls a microsite or blog post. But unlike other websites that allow you to store the webpages on any server you choose, with Adobe Spark, your webpages cannot be downloaded. You will need to link to them or embed them into your website via iframe. However, this also allows Adobe to collect stats about your published projects such as view counts and likes.

Like Spark Post, you have your choice of several design elements including text, images, videos, animation, effects and more. Adobe includes their own version of a slideshow, called a Glideshow, for your photos. As you work, you have a live preview of how your microsite will display on mobile devices. Of course, the pages are responsive and look great on any size screen.

Adobe Spark Video

As with the other two parts of Spark, you can use any of the text, images, videos, animations, effects and audio in your Spark Video project. You can start from a styled template and Spark automatically places transitions between major scenes. You can also add your own narration from within the app.
