Author Pamela Ferguson and Work as Worship

Do you serve God? Do you worry that you aren’t? You aren’t working as a missionary to a foreign country. You aren’t a pastor. You don’t work in a church. Maybe you’re a writer. Are you serving the Lord according to his plan?

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…You are serving the Lord Christ.“ Colossians 3:23-24 ESV

As Christians we don’t separate the sacred and the secular. We bring the sacred to the secular. We live in Christ and serve him with our entire life.
Author Pamela Ferguson serves by writing romance novels about people like you and me.

From Pam: “I write sweet, small town romances because I like exploring how character reveals itself in the day-to-day interactions that take place between people. There's a saying that goes, "Don't sweat the small stuff," and yet I believe the way people handle the "small stuff" reveals much about who they are--what they value, how they treat others, why they want what they want. Because of my background as a life-long Catholic, I have a Christian perspective that comes out in my characters, who struggle to do the right thing just as we all do. Their daily challenge to be the best person they can be, knowing they will fail and yet refusing to give up, is a fascinating dynamic for me to explore as a writer.”

I read two of Pam’s books.

Wings Of Love - on Amazon.com
This is a sweet love story set in a lovely small town. It is filled with residents that are both interesting and very similar to people I know.

Trained mediator Jack Warfield returns to his hometown for a visit and is put to work. The mayor enlists his to aid in mediating differences of opinion on the theme for the town’s 250th Anniversary Celebration. A problem arises when Jack must share the role with Reo Greene, a young woman with whom he has had a long-standing feud. While the two work on the anniversary celebration mediating differences between townspeople, they must settle their own differences.

Mercy Me - on Amazon.com
Lilac is a small town with its share of ornery and lovable characters. Chloe is a small town girl who designs unique wedding dresses looking forward to participating in an important charity vendor auction.. Luke is a big city business executive on a mission to disrupt her plans. Sparks fly when the two meet, secrets are revealed that will change lives. This sweet romance is a great read for a cozy evening.

Whether your work is official ministering or ministering to people’s spirits in other ways—such as writing books to inspire—your work is for the Lord. Work at it with all your heart.
