Have you ever played a card game or board game with a child who likes to change the rules during the game? My nephew would try this a lot. He always wanted to tip the scales in her favor. But for most games, the rules stay the same. That's not the case with the card game Fluxx. As cards are played the rules are constantly changing, even how to win the game will change during the course of the game.

Fluxx is easy to learn as the only rules that apply are the ones played during the game. The game begins with one rule: players must draw a card and play a card. All players begin the game with three cards.

When the first player begins the game, he draws a card and then must play a card. There are four types of cards: new rules, keepers, goals, or actions.

Keeper cards are played in front of you and help you win the game. Think of Keepers as objects or ideas like chocolate, brain, cookies, and peace.

Goals contain conditions that will win the game. Some goals include Chocolate Milk, so if you have chocolate and milk, you win.

Actions are played once. a few examples of an action card would rotate hands, trade hands, or trash a keeper.

Rules are played in the center of the table and change the dynamic of the game. Rules may change the number of cards you are allowed to have in your hand or the number of cards you draw on your turn.

It's simple to play and fun. Fluxx also makes for a great party game since it takes less than five minutes to explain how to play. Plus it's an unconventional card game, so even those friends that don't like card games might enjoy Fluxx.

Fluxx is from Looney Labs and has many spin-off sets like Eco Fluxx and Zombie Fluxx. Cards from different sets can be used with the original Fluxx game.
