I took some pictures of her favorite things.
I selected pictures of her family members, her Pup-Pup (her constant compainion stuffed dog), flowers and anything else I could think of that would let her design the door or refrigerator with her own stories.
We took bottle caps and glued the pictures to the bottom and glued the round magnets to the top (hard, closed surface) of the magnet. If you want to keep it permanent or use magazine pictures instead then applying Modge Podge or other clear sealant over it. Older children might enjoy drawing their own characters from construction paper and creating stories in this fashion. My grandson creates dinosaurs with construction paper. Then they can decorate them with glitter, ribbon, beads ect.
Materials:
- Bottle caps from pop or other beverages
- Photographs or photocopied images, magazine pictures, comic book pictures or self designed pictures from construction paper
- White glue
- Glitter, beads, spangles etc.
- Round magnets
- Hot glue gun
- Modge Podge (or other clear sealant)
Directions
- Pick an image
- Place the bottlecap on the image and trace around the cap
- Cut out the image
- Glue image to the inside of cap - make sure the image is smooth and there are no air bubbles or wrinkles and let dry
- Cover image with layer of Modge Podge and let dry
- Decorate as your child chooses
- Using the glue gun, attach the magnet to the bottle cap
- Let glue set and the child now has a fun craft to use to design their own stories.
I usually always try to add a picture for crafts that I list on the site but I think this craft is pretty simple and self explanitory so didn't feel like it was necessary.
