The last time I reviewed Insightly, as much as I liked it, there were still a few features I knew would make it one of the better customer relationship management (CRM) apps in the Google Apps Marketplace. Low and behold, the Insightly developer team has added these features and more to their product.
Insightly Goes Mobile
In May, 2012 a mobile website was launched for Insightly users. It has been tested on a number of mobile devices including Android phones, Apple iPhones and iPads, and the Windows Phone and Blackberry.
Improvements were made in June, including adding the ability to search contact and organization lists in real time and adding pagination of contact and organization lists into pages of fifty records.
Insightly also recommends on its blog placing a quick link to your Insightly account by creating a bookmark in your device’s browser and choosing the “Add to Home” feature for Android or “Add to Home Screen” feature for iPhone/iPad.
Notification & Follow System
Follow project items in Insightly and get notification when items are added, changed or updated. In the “My Info” area you can adjust settings on when to receive notifications. In addition if there are any items you wish to automatically follow, add that info to the settings as well.
Adding External Users
This is the most important feature in my opinion. The ability to add external users makes it easy to work with contractors and freelancers. This was the biggest area where Insightly fell short but now their users have the ability to collaborate as other popular CRM's allow.
LinkedIn and Twitter Integration
Need to keep up-to-date on info related to your business or your professional contacts you now have the ability to integrate with both LinkedIn and Twitter and pull in feeds.
MailChimp Integration
The MailChimp integration feature is for users on the Insightly paid plans only. This is a great way to send contacts to MailChimp or import contacts from MailChimp.
If you haven't considered a CRM yet, or are not happy with the competition, it might be time to try out Insightly, available in the Google Apps Marketplace.
