Oven Baked Shrimp With Black Pepper Recipe

I found this oven baked shrimp recipe written on a piece of paper in the back of a second hand cook book. I tried it, made a few changes and have been making to for 15 years or more. It has just a few ingredients and requires a lot of newspaper for the buttery shrimp peels.


4 lbs fresh shrimp, fresh, tails only, deveined, unpeeled*
1 stick Butter or margarine, melted
4 tblspn fresh lemon juice
5 tblspn fresh ground black pepper
Melt butter or margarine in a medium pan.


Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Pour melted butter over shrimp which has been placed in a large baking dish. Make sure shrimp is well coated with butter. Sprinke black pepper over shrimp, stir and spread shrimp to edge of pan. Bake in 400 F. oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until done. Shrimp shells will be pink.

Spread newspaper over table and enjoy. Beer hits the spot with this fun dish.

*The key to the goodness of this shrimp dish is fresh, not frozen shrimp
