“I dreamed of an endless shopping mall. I know some people would love that, but I'm not a big shopper. I like to shop online as much as possible. It was an unusual dream in that I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just walking. I'm usually searching for something in dreams.
The mall stretched on as far as you could see, length-wise, broken up into segments. Each segment was around the size of a small city block and held around 6-8 shops. I don't recall any shop in particular, but they were all lit up. Several had neon signs.
Each segment was separated by a small set of steps that went up as you exited one segment and back down into the next. The hand rails were chrome. The majority of the interior was charcoal-colored tilework and the most gorgeous fountain sat in the center of every segment. I remember thinking how clean and pretty the place was.
The mall was packed, but I don't recall recognizing a single person there. It was like a holiday rush or something, but there weren't any decorations out.
The details were very vivid in this one, but like most dreams, I can't recall any real identifier on any person, only the things.”
I love it when dreamers recall their dreams with great details such as these. Every little component is another clue into the dreamer’s psyche. There are lots of delicious symbols here so let's get to them:
The Dream Symbols
Shopping mall. This is a place where you seek things you want. There are options. Variety.
Endless. The choices, indeed, are endless and go on into infinity.
Broken into segments, each held its own shops. The choices were grouped.
All lit up, several had neon signs. Light=knowledge, wisdom, guidance. The neon signs indicate that some of the shops' contents have different types of information, more colorful than conservative or traditional.
Separated by small set of steps going up and then back down. This seems to indicate that you will have to make a little effort (but just a little) to explore the choices.
Chrome handrails. You'll have some support in your explorations and in deciding what to choose.
Charcoal-colored . Black can symbolize many things but in this case, it is my feeling that it more likely represents spirituality and deep mysteries due to the other contextual clues. Charcoal can have several meanings but, again considering the context, it more likely represents transformation (coal burns and transforms itself and other things. Additionally, carbon can turn into diamond.)
Tile work. Tile on the walls indicates that the institutions have rigid ideas. (If this sounds confusing, wait for the dream interpretation that follows.)
Gorgeous fountain in center. Fountains flow with water that is life and knowledge!
Pretty and clean.Appealing, pure intent.
The Dream Interpretation
The reason I got so excited about this dream is that it indicates it is an exciting time for the dreamer as she considers the endless array of ideas, thoughts, philosophies and paths in life. She may dislike actual real life shopping but this dream is not about material goods! She is being offered an infinite array of spiritual and life experiences. What will she choose?
To help, the selections are grouped. All offer some type of light or knowledge to be gained. Some shops will contain ideas and philosophies that are loud and blaring to get her attention. The steps between shops go up and down which points to a little effort that is needed for her to continue her seeking (shopping).
The chrome handrails hint that the dreamer will have some support along her journey. This person will be energetic and eager to share his/her ideas with the dreamer.
That most of the shops had charcoal-colored tile work means that many of these places where she will seek information will present rigid, spiritual ideas. For example, some churches hold to very strict doctrine. But all can potentially transform one's understanding. The gorgeous fountains and pretty, clean places are great symbols of pure intent and high morality along with life-giving knowledge that flows! It is interesting to note that *every* shopping group had its own fountain.
The mall is packed with people and today there is a general agreement that the world is experiencing an awakening. Everyone suddenly is interested in spiritual knowledge.
Dream Therapy
I encourage this dreamer to go forth with joy and enthusiasm. Explore all the various spiritual and life paths before her. Experience! Discover what it is that she wants for her own. Be on the look-out for some helpful friends, guides or mentors who will appear along the way. But like any savvy shopper, make some comparisons, choose wisely and enjoy the experience. Don’t be afraid of buyer’s remorse. She can always return her purchase and go shopping all over again in the mall of eternal life.
