The Native American Women's Association brings us this wonderful cookbook full of traditional and contemporary recipes used by many Native American women today. The cookbook features a padded 3-ring binder cover so pages turn easily and stay open. It is published by Morris Press Cookbooks and is the 25th Anniversary edition of the Native American Women's Association in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
This organization was founded in 1980 and began promoting positive Native American programs and activities for both the Native and Non-Native communities in their area. Today the group is even more active. From fashion shows featuring clothes that range from traditional tribal dress to tribally influenced modern clothes, the annual NAWA Princess who represents NAWA across the country, and various fund raisers to name a few worthy works, the NAWA has proved itself a strong and uplifting part of society. Not only that, but an organization that provides a good example for our youth to follow and gives them the tools to succeed including the recently started scholarship program for area Native American students.
The cookbook offered by this great group is divided into several sections including:
Soups and Salads
Cookies & Candy
This & That
Breads & Fry Bread
Vegetables & Side Dishes
and an Index for easily locating your favorite recipes.
Each section is divided by indexed pages with tabs and have some nice drawings decorating them. You'll also find helpful hints on the back of each index page and a special section in the back of the cookbook that offers cooking tips, information on herbs and spices, and many more helpful information pages, charts and more.
