A Charlie Brown Christmas

Charlie Brown can’t seem to get into the spirit of Christmas. With people worried about gifts, decorations and the annual Christmas pageant, one little tree may be what Charlie Brown needs to find the true meaning of the holidays. Here are a few mistakes to look for while watching this animated classic with the family.

• Lucy turns the sign over on the doctor’s stand. In a close-up view of the sign, it has “The Doctor” on the top line and “Is Real In” written underneath. In the next view of the sign, when Lucy is talking to Charlie Brown, “The Doctor Is” is written on three separate lines with “Real In” written to the right of it. In the side view, when Lucy asks Charlie Brown “What seems to be your trouble?”, “The Doctor” is written on two separate lines and “Is In” is written on a third. A view of the sign after that shows it’s back to its original position.

• Charlie Brown and Lucy are talking his problems over. A green and white can is on Lucy’s table. Lucy suddenly flips back in her seat when Charlie Brown yells “That’s it!” and the can is gone!

• Charlie Brown picks out the little tree. The first time it’s shown, it has three branches. When Charlie Brown shows the tree to the other girls and boys there are more!

• Charlie Brown is wearing his yellow shirt and his red coat is on the floor right before Linus comes out and makes his speech. The right side shot of Linus during his speech shows Charlie Brown just offstage wearing his coat. A few moments later, Charlie Brown is holding his red coat and he’s only wearing his yellow shirt.

• The other boys and girls decorate the little Christmas tree for Charlie Brown. When Charlie Brown sees it, there is a little boy in a yellow shirt on the last row next to the Christmas tree. The same boy has a blue shirt on when the children shout “Merry Christmas Charlie Brown” and start singing. (There was originally one boy wearing a blue shirt and now there are two!)

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (1965) is based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz and features the voices of Peter Robbins, Bill Melendez and Christopher Shea. It runs 25 minutes and is rated G.
