Two For One Jelly Roll Quilts

This book is titled Two From One Jelly Roll Quilts and it features 18 designs to make your fabric go further. It is written by Pam and Nicky Lintott and published by David & Charles.

If you're looking for a fantastic gift to give an aspiring quilter or you are looking for some great ideas for making quilts for charity, Two From One Jelly Roll Quilts fits the bill perfectly.

I received a complimentary copy recently and have spent quite a deal of time going through the patterns and have been very impressed. The gist of this book is that you can make 18 designs using only HALF a jelly roll. Yes I said Half!! Some of the designs in this book use a little bit of other fabric, but not a huge amount, which makes the quilts very reasonably priced.

Factory cut strips and squares are becoming very popular amongst the busy working, stay at home Mums who are keen to create wonderful decor for their homes and their loved ones. Jelly Rolls are very convenient, but it is possible to make your own Jelly Rolls from simple scraps from your stash.

As well as the value for money, the authors, Pam and Nicky Lintott have really put their brains to work and have devised several new ways of putting complicated blocks together with very little fuss. I have been teaching quilting for a number of years and have not come across these techniques for putting multi-coloured blocks together. Very ingenious I say.

The diagrams and photographs are very succinct and descriptive, with the added bonus of user friendly language in the instructions.

I always look at patterns with a view to using them for the Linus Project quilts we make and just about every one of the eighteen designs would be suitable for use with scrap fabrics. Of course, I would seek the permission of the authors to use their patterns in charity quilts first.

It's a joy to occassionally come across a quilt book that is well thought out, well presented, and considers the readers ability and skill level. This is a very good quilt book and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a gift for your favourite quilter.
