Go For It Or Let It Come To You

Some self-help gurus tell us to set our intentions and go for it. Others tell us to let it come to us. So, which is best? The truth is, they both are. Pursuit and patience become a balancing act on the path of passion and purpose. Set your intentions, make an effort toward it, and then wait for it. There may be failures along the way, but the journey is golden.

Within you there is a ferromagnetic material (metaphorically speaking, like iron to an actual magnet) that is being called to your magnetic purpose. Maybe you are experiencing a roadblock that has abruptly interrupted your journey. Intuitively, you are aware that you want to do something new because the old strategies are not producing the results you desire. In other words, you are ready for a change. You may or may not be certain of what your purpose is and you are absolutely uncertain of how to get to it. What now?

Maybe you are afraid to go after your new goal. This is a natural reaction to change, but something within, that ferromagnetic material, will urge you to move forward.

Tell the Universe what your intentions are and take your first step forward. This is pursuit. Expect an opportunity to surface. If a natural next step does not present itself to you, wait.

If there is no return action, good or bad, take another step. If the path you are on gets blocked, stop and pay attention. This is a sign that you are moving in the wrong direction.

Wrong direction does not have to mean that you must change your destination. Sometimes it simply means you have mistakenly taken a step off course of your destination or a wrong choice on your path. For instance, let’s say you know you have a purpose to bring people together through cooking. You choose to open a restaurant. The restaurant struggles, but a buyer for the business comes forth. In this instance, “wrong path” could mean the restaurant is the wrong path, but catering is the right path. Or maybe it is time to change the menu or take on an investing partner or serve family style meals instead of buffet. Take a moment to analyze. Look for clues to your next step. Regroup and move forward.

When you are uncertain of your next step, ask. Ask out loud. The answer will come on the best avenue to you. That simply means, a clue will be provided where YOU can see it or hear it. If you are a vivid dreamer, your avenue might be your dreams. You may hear or see your solution there in Technicolor. If you spend a lot of time on the road, you may see the solution on a billboard or hear it on the radio. Maybe your avenue is television. The Universe speaks to us in the language we can best understand at the time that we need it.

On the path to passion and purpose, there may be many detours along the way, times when you are dealing with the smaller items in life and forget about the big pull. These are just lessons you have ordered on your journey, things you want to learn to help you have a better human experience. When you learn the lesson, you can jump back on course. You will know that you are on the right avenue when things are sailing through.

On your journey to grasping your purpose there will be a lot of push and pull, as well as, give and take. Your resistance will make it harder, your surrender will make it smoother. It’s the juxtapositions in life that bring us balance. Go for it and let it come to you. This is where you will find balance in fulfilling your purpose over and over again.
