March of the Penguins

Weíve all taken a liking to animated characters like Tennessee Tuxedo, the quiet criminal in Wallace & Gromitís: The Wrong Trousers and, most recently, Madagascarís prodigious wobblers. So, itís no wonder that filmmaker Luc Jacquet took advantage of our fond notion of penguins and beautifully documented the harrowing travel, moving moments of intimacy, and quest for food and warmth that emperor penguin flock encounter during the Antarctic winter.

This touching story takes us to the Antarctic, where every March since the beginning of time, the emperor penguin flock begins its quest to find the perfect mate and start a family. The courtship is the beginning of a very long journey that will take the emperor penguin hundreds of miles across the continent by foot, under the most treacherous conditions. This journey invokes just about every major life experience, from birth to date, from dating to mating, from comedy to tragedy, and from love to fighting for survival. Ultimately, the emperor penguin flock will risk everything, even their very lives, for one thing: true love.

This movie is nothing, if not absolutely inspiring! Youíll find yourself not being able to look at an Emperor penguin the same way; youíll regard these unique birds as among the most dignified, brave and loving animals on the planet. The struggle that they endure in order to bring new life into their world is nothing short of amazing!

Cast: Charles Berling , Jules Sitruk , Morgan Freeman
