This amazing miracle could only be one thing skunks of all planets through the universe are not mourning but celebrating a life of one who brought awareness to the world that the skunk is our friend. A wild skunk keeps our environment in check. A pet skunk keeps us in check.
Jane Bone – Skunk Lady passed away February 18, 2005. I doubt if I have felt a passing this deeply since my own son passed away. When I wanted my first pet skunk and began researching many years ago, a women’s name came up the most – Jane Bone. I contacted her and she spent days convincing me I did not want a skunk. Why did she do this, because of their very special care and temperament. Because of the fragile new laws allowing the pet skunks in many states and because many exotic pets are not for everyone. She finally was convinced I was ready for my skunk.
Jane Bone was the first to find the correct diet to allow a long longevity in the domestic skunk. Just a few of her special friends were Bitsy an albino female age 23, Cleo a chocolate was 22, and Joey 19. She could easily look at a skunk and tell the person what was wrong. She brought in unwanted, unloved, injured, and sick pets loving them and bringing them back to health. Her life surrounded by furry love; what could be better.
Jane is one of those special people that leaves a mark on life unlike many people who leave behind nothing, or hatred, meanness and darkness. Those special people, those few special people deserve a star a star for us to forever remember the miracles she brought to us.
I will never forget you Jane, your love, your help, and your kindness. Thank you my dear friend. You are together again with your dear departed friends.
