Whether it is with your best friend or with a group of bosom buddies, dressing up with them on Halloween is always fun! Here are a few unique Halloween costume ideas for you.

Grab five of your friends and dress up as “Dorothy Gale”, “The Scarecrow”, “The Tin Man”, “The Cowardly Lion” and “The Wicked Witch of the West.” Since the characters of “The Wizard Of Oz” are some of the most popular Halloween ideas, factory-made costumes can be found at most Halloween stores.

Another “group” costume is the stars of “The Women” (1939) which starred Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer and Rosalind Russell amongst an all-female cast. Make a trip to your local thrift or vintage/consignment store and buy a few old, glamorous-looking prom dresses. Remember, whomever dresses up “Mrs. Stephen Haines” (Norma Shearer) has to paint her nails “jungle red.” If you want to add a Halloween twist to your costume, go as "zombie" versions of the characters by adding ghoulish make-up.

A great costume for a pair of friends would be “Baby Jane and Blanche Hudson” from “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?” (1962). This classic B-horror film pitted two rivals, actresses Joan Crawford and Bette Davis against each other when they played “The Hudson Sisters” who were once famous performers in vaudeville and on the silver screen.

In order to play “Baby Jane” (Bette Davis), think overgrown child star. You will need to wear either a white nightgown or a white-vintage-looking dress. With your hair, you can arrange it in messy pigtails. For “Baby Jane”’s dramatic make-up, you will have to use a stark-white foundation for the face, as if you were going as “ghost,” with red lipstick and black eye shadow. For “Blanche”’s costume, you will need to wear a black vintage-looking dress with your hair in a tight bun. For further inspiration, a simple image search will provide you with the right pictures for the costumes and make-up.

Who could forget the hilarious musical number of “Puttin’ On The Ritz” from Mel Brooks’ comic adaptation of “Frankenstein” in “Young Frankenstein” (1974)? This would be another perfect costume for a pair of friends! You will need two tuxedos, top hats and canes. Not only will you look dapper, but the costume will provide some warmth if you’re trick-or-treating. The friend portraying “Frankenstein” will have to use green Halloween make-up on their face. Since the musical adaptation of this Mel Brooks classic hit Broadway, this is a topical costume too.
