The Apprentice Season Finale

The season finale of The Apprentice was a no-brainer. Between Tana and Kendra, Kendra, though young, proved that she had the professionalism, management style and know how to beat her competition and walk away as The Apprentice of season 3.

Unlike previous winners, her choices for Apprentice career in the Trump organization were not centered around managing the building of a skyscraper or golf course as she was given much more feminine choices. Her options were either to renovate a 68,000 square feet mansion in her native home of Palm Springs, Florida or to work with the Miss Universe pageant. Being a real estate maven, Kendra made the likely choice in Palm Springs.

Her options led me to wonder if these tasks were specifically chosen to suit the final two, both women or if these were the same tasks that would have been awarded to two men had they been in the final 2.

The previous winner of the first season, Bill Rancic was able to chose between a running a golf course as magnificent as any of Trumpís creations or to oversee the building of an $800 million skyscraper in Chicago. He chose the latter as it was in his hometown and represented his interests better.

Kelly Perdew, the winner of season two, is now running around the country selling Trump Ice, Trumpís own brand of water. That might prove more difficult then it sounds. I mean, Trump is an icon, but water? What is he going to do put gold in it? The bottom line is that Kelly is responsible for a new multi million dollar venture in sales where he has room to prove his talents and as Bill did, earn a second year extension on his position.

What can come of Kendra with her home renovation task? As a Real Estate broker, she might be able to convince Trump to give her the sale of the project and could net more than $2 Million, a big improvement on the $200,000 a year salary of the previous winners. Money aside, it still seems as though these tasks for this season were designed for historically female roles.

Is there a bit of sexism in the Trump Organization?
