Replacing Lost Game Instructions

Have you lost the instructions to a board game? It can happen as they can get misplaced or accidentally thrown away. Sometimes we can remember how to play games but it's always handy to have the rules when teaching new players. Here are some tips to replace lost board game instructions.

First step is to find out the board game manufacturer. This information should be listed on the box. There might even be contact information like a physical address or a web address. If there is a toll free customer service number, then that might be the fastest and easiest way to find out how to get the board game instructions you need.

If that information is not listed on the box, then you might do an Internet search to find out how to contact the company.

Many companies offer their game instructions as free downloads. Instructions are usually in pdf format, so you will need the free Adobe Reader to view it.

Contacting the company directly is probably the most reliable way to get board game instructions. If this does not work, then there are other methods for finding out how to play a board game.

You can always ask friends or family who also play the game. Two or even three heads are better than one when trying to remember the exact rules of a game. You may be surprised to find out you know enough to play the game.

Try using a search engine to find the instructions on the Internet. Use keywords in your search like the name of the board game and words like rules, instructions, or manual.

Board game communities like BoardGameGeek.com are also an excellent source for finding help. Avid board gamers can point you in the right direction when looking for game instructions.

Finding replacement game instructions might call for a little legwork whether it's Internet searching or making a phone call to the customer service department. The effort is all worth it to be able to play a long lost board game treasure.
