Ballet - Advanced Adagio Combinations 1 - 9

For ages 13 and older, and as a daily lesson plan of selected combinations for mature male and female ballet dancers.

For the young teen expect 3 years to master the technique. The introduction to the advanced syllabi is here.

If anyway possible, now is the stage to have a piano accompanist for classes for the flexibility it affords with music.

Advanced Adagio Combinations 1 - 9

1. Second port de bras
preparation: face corner 2 - feet in 5th RF front, L arm up
ct 1 - open arms 2nd,
ct 2 - cross R arm front to corner 2, L in back,
ct 3 - bring together in front, 5th en avant,
ct 4 - raise L arm as at beginning

2. Fifth port de bras
preparation: chassé into attitude à terre to corner 2, L arm up
ct 1 - demi plié in 4th, arms remain the same,
ct 2 - straighten knees, transfer weight back on LF, RF point tendu,
ct 3 - demi plié in 4th, arms 5th en avant,
ct 4 - transfer fwd on RF into attitude à terre

3. First four port de bras
2 of each - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

4. Second port de bras, Attitude promenade, retiré
A - 2nd port de bras 2x
B - chassé into attitude à terre, diagonal fwd to 2;
close 5th back and lower arms,
chassé into attitude à terre, diagonal fwd to 2;
close 5th back and arms en l'air,
on half promenade to face corner 1,
L arm remains up in front to meet R overhead,
lower LF to 5th front and lower arms
repeat "B" to corner 1, extend to arabesque,
pas de bourrée dessus to L,
finish 5th, LF front
repeat "A" and "B" to left

5. Grand battement and grand rond de jambe
4 battement devant with R leg
brush R leg fwd in 4th, carry to 2nd and back in 4th,
close 5th back

6. Retiré with relevé on demi pointe devant
retiré with relevé on demi pointe devant
with heat and shoulder to raised leg, arms down

7. Épaulé
5th position RF front, slide RF to 2nd, arms fwd and open,
close 5th back in the demi plié,
slide RF diagonally back - arms fwd
and open to 2nd arabesque R arm 2nd

8. Six body positions
1. croisé devant
2. a la quatrieme devant
3. a la seconde
4. épaulé
5. a la quatrieme derrière
6. croisé derrière

9. Three arabesque en l'air
5th position RF front -
ct 1 - retiré RF, arms fwd,
ct 2 - open arms and developpé fwd,
ct 3 - lift L heel and turn to face in 1st arabesque,
ct 4 - open arms to 2nd,
ct 5 - cross R arm over into 2nd arabesque,
ct 6 - raise L arm higher than R into 3rd arabesque,
ct 7 - lift L heel, turn to face fwd,
ct 8 - close 5th back
