Danny Pollak - Designer Extraordinaire

Like a moth to a flame, I've always been drawn to the unusual and dramatic in fashion and jewelry. I particularly like strong jewelry that has the power to inspire my wardrobe choices. I often put on a bracelet, pendant, or earrings first thing in the morning, and then later choose the outfit that works with Butterfly Brooch by Danny Pollak. This antiqued silver finish beauty is hand-set with brilliant turquoise and orangey/yellow/brown topaz Swarovski crystals. Height is 2 inches and width 2-3/4 inches. Signed D. Pollak. And although I have an eclectic collection that includes some over-the-top wild and crazy pieces, I often wear relatively quiet standards like big and bigger classic silver hoop earrings, lots of costume, Native American turquoise and silver rings and other semi-precious gemstones, and organic beads like wood and pearls. But I'm mad about 'bling' and go glitzy and glamorous when the mood strikes or the occasion presents itself.

This elegant piece is 4 inches long and 2-1/2 inches high and signed D. Pollak. Photo Courtesy of Artifacts and Treasures at www.artifactsandtreasures.comMy collection includes at least 30 bold pieces including whimsical animal brooches, big colorful cubic zirconia rings, super chunky bracelets, giant pear-shaped Swarovski crystal earrings, bright gold-toned chain earrings, 4" wide wrist cuffs, a Kirks Folly aurora borealis Swarovski crystal bracelet, and several exotic oversized pendants. Bold, colorful, shiny, and sparkling to beat the band, most of my favorites are handcrafted designer pieces, many bought years ago. I’ve always loved jewelry with pizzazz! So it was not surprising I fell madly in love with Danny Pollak's jewelry the moment I laid eyes on it in a newspaper article, and subsequently seen more photos online at Artifacts and Treasures. My New Year’s resolution is to own several Pollaks.

Danny Pollak has been designing and making high quality jewelry for 24 years, since he was 20, and every piece is guaranteed for life—he will repair and return them by mail, free of charge. He crafts his pieces in brass coated with rhodium, 24 karat gold, sterling, or copper then hand-sets Swarovski crystals or rhinestones in dynamic colors like red, orange, purple, and lime green, and vintage objets d’art accents. Flamboyantly elegant and sometimes outrageous, in the realm of design Danny Pollak is completely fearless—truly the mark of creative genius.

Preferring to sell directly to his clients rather than through department stores, Pollak does 30 shows each year. His booth is a regular star attraction at two of Canada's most important shows for artists, the One of a Kind Flying Lizard Barrette by Danny Pollak. Gold finish with wings and five flowers hand-set with brilliant royal blue Swarovski crystals. Length 4-1/2 x width 3-1/2 inches with 3inch clip. Signed D. Not for the timid, each and every barrette, brooch, pair of earrings, bracelet, necklace, pendant, and jewel-encrusted tiara in the collection is an elaborate conversation piece and attracts fashion conscious people of all ages and persuasions—the hip and trendy crowd, sophisticated ladies in classic suits, punk rockers, grandmothers, and kids, too! His artful use of exuberant and joyful motifs featuring a variety of flora and fauna, amuse and delight all who see them. No one can resist all the fabulous glitter and the fun sense of fashion that is the creative signature of Danny Pollak. And although every beautiful piece of his jewelry is a work of art and looks very expensive, they are happily one of life’s affordable little luxuries starting at only $38 for a luxurious barrette or pair of earrings, and ranging to over $200 for more intricate designs. Every piece is signed D. Pollak.

Part of the Danny Pollak magic lies in the juxtaposition of random and diverse elements like vintage stones with new Swarovski crystals and rhinestones alongside opaque stones. Add a wild imagination, marvelous sense of humor, and This gorgeous shimmering snake has an antiqued silver finish that you can only see from the back as the top is covered with amethyst, light amethyst and jonquil yellow Swarovski crystals. Height 3-1/2 inches, width 3-1/4 inches. Signed D. Pollaklove of nature and animals (Picture dazzling frogs in dresses, flying lizards, swans with glittering chartreuse plumage, a kaleidoscopic bevy of twinkling butterflies, six-legged snakes, shimmering profusions of flowers inhabited by birds, bees, and dragonflies, acrobatic amphibians, and there’s even an elegant monkey queen with a servant!), an uncanny flare for design, a perfect eye for form and function, a penchant for the bizarre and wonderful, brilliant use of rich exciting colors, and a no holds barred sense of whimsy, and you have jewelry with uncommon panache. And like anything that is cutting edge, high style, and larger than life, Danny Pollak’s jewelry has a celebrity following. Aficionados like actors Ray Liotta, Kirstie Alley, consummate rocker, Keith Richards, and many other well-known people have been bedazzled by Pollak’s work and he has been invited to show his work in Las Vegas.

Our passion for personal adornment, from the Ancient Egyptians to contemporary society, is ever-enduring and there has been an explosive global interest in jewelry just in the last couple of years. Danny Pollak understands this passion all too well and having always loved jewelry himself, he knows that people have their own individual reasons for wearing jewelry—some to emphasize their beauty—some to express who they are—some even hide behind it—and some for the art’s sake. He clearly knows what looks good on people and knows how to make you beautiful! I can hardly wait for my first Danny Pollak!
