This lovely little booklet contains a series of elaborate floral patterns named after different varieties of Iris.
The patterns include
- Iris Cristata which is a square motif
- Iris Variegata an elaborate wide edging which can be attached to the square motif as an edging or used on its own
- Apatura Iris a pattern for a pretty butterfly worked in coloured threads
Despite there being very few patterns in the volume they are fully diagrammed with written text instruction where necessary and take up ten pages. The butterfly in particular takes several pages.
This is not a book for the beginner but is a volume for the experienced worker who will enjoy working relatively elaborate pieces using her imagination to come up with further combinations.
The book measures approximately 8 inches square and is written in three languages, English, German and Italian. It has soft covers and the pages are stapled together at the spine.
This will be a worthwhile purchase for the worker wanting some more elaborate patterns. The book can be obtained from Iris Neibach at Tatting Online.
