Chrysler and Vickie Winans Team Up for Tour and Talent Search

Chrysler Financial and Vickie Winans will team up to host a national tour and talent search. The Rising Star Tour will kick off in Ms. Winans hometown of Detroit Michigan at The State Theatre on July 28 and will continue across the country. Ms. Winans will be performing in major cities such as Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles. The tour is free and aims to educate people about their personal finances and endorse the belief that education leads to personal and spiritual empowerment.

With a long history of charity and community involvement, this tour and its theme is one Winans can support. "As a partner within the faith-based community, I share Chrysler Financial's vision of empowering members of our community," shared Winans.

Winans and Chrysler will also sponosr the Rising Star Talent Search. The winner of the talent search will win a 2 year lease of a 2006 Chrysler 300C and a recording contact with Ms. Winans Destiny Joy Records. The search was developed to find America's best new gospel artists. Ten contestants will be selected in each city to move to the quarterfinals, with only five artists moving to the semifinals. The five semifinalists will then perform at the Vickie Winans' show in each city, where one winner will be selected. Winners from each city will then travel to the grand finale show in Detroit in November. "As one of the world's largest financial services companies, Chrysler Financial has implemented several financial education initiatives to empower citizens to become more savvy about their personal finances," said William F. Jones Jr., Vice President -- Chrysler Financial. "Vickie is the right artist and her tour is a terrific vehicle for us to get the word out concerning the absolute importance of financial literacy and empowerment."

The chart-topping gospel artist with six Grammy nominations, recently broke Dottie People's long-standing record for most Stellar Award wins (four) for a female artist. She took home five Stellar Awards in 2004, including Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year for her most recent record, Bringing It All Together.
