Words are something we should all be more aware of, every word spoken effects the way people see each other and understand each other. If, we use the wrong word at the wrong time, it can lead to misunderstandings. There are so many writings in the Torah, Qur’an, the Bible, and of Buddha, and in Baha’i writings I had a tough time limiting the choices, I hope you find the following uplifting and eye opening.
From the Buddha, we have these words:
“Undisturbed shall our mind remain, no evil words shall escape our lips; friendly and full of sympathy shall we remain, with heart full of love, and free from any hidden malice; and that person shall we penetrate with loving thoughts, wide, deep, boundless, freed from anger and hatred.”
(The Eightfold Path), Buddha, the Word
From the Torah, we have these words:
"Remember His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations; which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac”
Kesuvim (Writings), Divrei HaYomim
“And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Oh Lord, I am not a man of words , neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto Thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
Torah (Law), Shemos
From The New Testament we hear:
“For the kingdom of God is not in word , but in power.”
King James Bible, 1 Corinthians
“But whoso keepeth his word , in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.”
King James Bible, 1 John
“The words of the LORD are pure words : as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”
King James Bible, Psalms
Then with Muhammed in the Qur’an:
“The words of thy Lord are fulfilled in truth and justice; there is none to change His words, for He both hears and knows.”
The Qur'an, Sura 6 - Cattle
“ A good word is like a good tree whose root is firm, and whose branches are in the sky; it gives its fruit at every season by the permission of its Lord-but God strikes out parables for men that haply they may be mindful.”
The Qur'an, Sura 14 - Abraham, Peace be on Him
Baha’u’llah, the latest manifestation of God tells us:
“The utterance of God is a lamp, whose light is these words: Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch.”
Baha'u'llah, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf
Abdu’l-Baha (Eldest son of Baha’u’llah) tells us:
“They summoned and invited the people to love and made the human world a mirror of the Word of God. Therefore the divine religions they established have one foundation; their teachings, proofs and evidences are one; in name and form they differ but in reality they agree and are the same.”
Abdu'l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity
Lastly:
“The first word which the Abha Pen hath revealed and inscribed on the first leaf of Paradise is this: "Verily I say: The fear of God hath ever been a sure defence and a safe stronghold for all the peoples of the world . . . The second word We have recorded on the second leaf of Paradise is the following: "The Pen of the Divine Expounder exhorteth, at this moment, the manifestations of authority and the sources of power, namely the kings and rulers of the earth -- may God assist them -- and enjoineth them to uphold the cause of religion, and to cleave unto it . . . The third word we have recorded on the third leaf of Paradise is this: "O son of man! If thine eyes be turned towards mercy, forsake the things that profit thee, and cleave unto that which will profit mankind.
Baha'u'llah, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf
