The game itself is easy to learn if you aren't familiar with Guitar Hero and related games. There is a beginner level that allows you to play a number of great songs and to learn the specifics of the game at a slower pace. Most of the classic rock songs are in the intermediate and advanced levels, but a new player should be able to get there quickly after a few sessions of trying out practice songs.
I was given a review copy of the game to see what it was like, and it was quite different from what I expected. I had seen video of Beatles Rock Band and assumed that the graphics would be the bands themselves on screen. While that would be a fun way to play along with the greats, the game actually allows you to create your own character and to play as that rock warrior. Once you create a character and get attached to it, you may find that you enjoy that more than seeing the different bands play various songs. It makes the game a little more cohesive, and it allows you to indulge your creativity a bit.
With the variety of music available to "play" through the game, classic rock fans should find something that will enjoy about Warriors of Rock
