The New Album From the Eagles

The Eagles have released their first new studio album in 28 years. The Long Road Out of Eden has, not surprisingly, been a big hit for the group, selling over 700,000 during its first week of release. The new album was a welcome sight for Eagles fans who have witnessed the solo efforts of Eagles members, such as Don Henley, over the past few decades. The Long Road Out of Eden was a long time coming, and it quickly shot to the top space on the Billboard charts. The sales may have been a surprise to those accustomed to seeing the newest groups at the top of the list, but the Long Road Out of Eden's number 1 status on the list wasn't a surprise to Eagles fans.

This latest Eagles effort is a double album- two CDs and 20 brand new songs. The album has not disappointed fans in the slightest, garnering spectacular reviews from fans and reviewers alike. The only odd thing about the album to many has been its availability. The album is available only at Wal-Mart stores in the brick and mortar world, though it can also be found online in venues such as Amazon. The absence of the album in music and media stores hasn't seemed to hurt its sales, though it has left some fans perplexed. Don Henley, in a recent CNN interview, said that Wal-Mart approached the Eagles with the idea, offered a favorable deal and described their ongoing commitment to environmental issues. With the environment an issue close to the members of the band, the deal was struck.

With solo albums still a priority for many members of the group, there isn't likely to be a new CD from the Eagles anytime soon. Don Henley is under contract with his studio for two more solo albums, and each member has been pursuing his own projects outside the Eagles. Each member also has children still at home, which makes the idea of a tour just as unlikely.

For now, Eagles fans will have to be content with the Long Road Out of Eden and the many albums that went before it to get their fix of Henley and the gang. And with 20 new songs to take in, it should keep them happy for some time to come.

The Long Road Out of Eden is available through Amazon and from Wal-Mart.
