The vaccine debate comes to Meet the Press

I am sharing this information for others to know this debate will take place. Although I am a parent to two children on the Autism Spectrum I do not believe vaccines or mercury poisoning had anything to do with either of my children being diagnosed autistic. When it comes to this topic I will share reviews of books and report on upcoming shows that highlight autism in some way.

I have yet to read Evidence of Harm: Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic: A Medical Controversy, but do plan on perusing it soon. When I have finished I will post a review based on the contents of the book.

I have an open mind to this topic, but no real experience since it is not the case for my family. This is a real hot button issue in the media and for parents. As a parent what I find insulting is when I have mentioned in various online communities that I feel this is not the case with my children and then I get pounced on by parents who refuse to believe there is a genetic link. We have taken part in many studies with researchers into the causes of Autism.

I just want to be honest and up front here to let readers know that vaccines and mercury poisoning will not be relevant in any articles I post. Please respect my beliefs and do not inundate me with mercury poisoning or vaccine data. I am busy living and enjoying life with two children on the Autism Spectrum.

For informational purposes only:

On Sunday, August 7, 2005 on NBC stations in the morning that air Meet The Press the guests will be David Kirby - author of above noted book and Dr. Harvey Feinberg of the Institute of Medicine. The discussion/debate will cover Thimerosal - the mercury based preservative found in childhood vaccines (until a few years ago) and the rise of autism cases.

Evidence of Harm: Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic: A Medical Controversy is available at Amazon.

Here is the link for the Transcript. Scroll half way down to the second portion of the show to find it. The first half was with Governor Mario Cuomo.
