The three major networks came out in full swing this week, announcing their new fall lineups to perspective advertisers. NBC was the first out of the gates, revealing four new shows. ABC announced 11 new shows, including four new sitcoms*, and CBS posted they’re making room for five new programs as well.
With all of the new shows coming, the networks had to clear out some room on their schedules, meaning some of your favorite shows may no longer exist. ABC canceled the sitcoms "George Lopez," "Help Me Help You" and "Knights of Prosperity," while the future of “According to Jim” is still up in the air. NBC dropped “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” and CBS cut “The Class.”
On a more positive note, CBS did manage to save a personal favorite, bringing back “How I Met Your Mother” for a third season. NBC is also bringing back “Scrubs,” which was dangerously close to cancellation. "Rules of Engagement" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" were left off the schedule, but only temporarily.
All-in-all the lineups look promising – favorites returning and big names bringing new shows. I will miss “George Lopez,” but maybe I’ll find a new way to spend Wednesday nights.
Here is a look at what to expect in September. Some shows have been shuffled around by the networks. As always, check your local listings in the fall so you don’t miss your favorite shows!
