The quickest cure for the winter doldrums is a spritz of the right perfume. Winter is the perfect time to bump up your perfume a notch to a heavier scent to match the season. This is the time to shelf any light floral or beach scents. This isnít to say that you need to select a perfume that is super heavy, where people will smell you coming before they see you, you just want to select warmer scents that will envelop you, to carry you through this bitter cold and otherwise dull season.
Those who live in warmer climates donít necessarily need to switch it up, but I recommend it, if for no other reason than to keep things fresh.
There are certain perfumes that are perfectly suited for all seasons. They are often referred to as signature scents. Signature scents are classic perfumes that can be worn day or night, and are carefully created to stand the test of time. Typically they are not too floral, spicy, clean, or woodsy, but rather a perfect blend of many of these.
The demand for a good signature fragrance is very high, as many perfumes smell almost identical to at least five others on the market. Letís examine a few signature scents, and winter scents. All of these recommendations are perfect for the winter months, and the perfumes noted as signature scents, are fine to wear for every season.
Dolce & Gabbana The One eau de perfume is a perfect example of a signature fragrance. Since Chanel No5, the love it or hate it classic, I havenít found a fragrance that I rate higher than Dolce & Gabbana The One. Released in 2006, this is a relatively new fragrance with notes of mandarin, bergamot, jasmine, Madonna lilly, vanilla, amber, musk, and plum, this perfume is the perfect blend of sophistication and elegance.
Hanae Mori Magical Moon Ė This floral oriental will definitely carry you through winter with vanilla, white musk, coconut milk, red cedar, and patchouli, just to name a few of the sumptuous ingredients. Hanae Mori Magical Moonís notes include, ďbuds and blooms harvested according to an ancient lunar calendar,Ē so if you feel extra special wearing it under the full moon, donít be surprised. This is a heavier scent with excellent staying power. It isnít a dime a dozen fragrance that you will smell on every woman, so I highly recommend checking this special fragrance out.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Ė Some describe this as a light fragrance, but I categorize this as a heavier, long lasting fragrance by powerhouse Chanel. Typically, I am not a huge fan of Chanelís heavy fragrance line. I find many of their perfumes to be dated, and overpowering, but Coco Mademoiselle sets itself apart, appealing to the younger generation with ingredients like, patchouli, morning rose, bergamot and orange. It is quite lovely, and can also be categorized as a signature fragrance.
Burberry Brit Ė This fragrance is not new to the perfume scene, but has earned its loyal customer base. Burberry Brit is considered a seasonal scent, as I find it too heavy for spring and summer wear. This is an extremely sexy fragrance that you must wear with confidence. With heart notes like sugared almond and white peony, and dry notes of amber, mahogany wood, vanilla, and tonka beans, this fragrance is not for the light at heart, itís officially categorized as a green oriental.
Thierry Mugler Angel Perfume Ė Angel is a one of a kind fragrance that took the world by storm when it was released in 1992, and since that time there has been no fragrance that has duplicated its scent. This is a heavy scent that is extremely longwearing, definitely a love it or hate it perfume. Notes include caramel, chocolate, vanilla, honey, bergamot, and mandarin. This is not a fragrance that I recommend purchasing until you fully test it as described in my article, Perfume Explained.
I recommend taking the time to sample these very special perfumes. You just may find your new signature scent, or a perfect fragrance for winter.
