Shelia Goss: Did you always know you wanted to be a singer?
Teairra Mari: Yes. Ever since I can remember I wanted to be a singer. I did the group thing for a minute, but it didn’t work out.
Shelia: How did you end up on Roc-A-Fella Records?
Teairra: It was shopped around. Took it to LA Reid and he liked it and signed me. I was twelve when I started out and sixteen when I signed. I’m seventeen now.
Shelia: If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing and why?
Teairra: LAW. It’s just something that I’ve always found interesting.
Shelia: How much input did you have on your CD?
Teairra: I had input every bit of the way. I wanted it to be me all of the way. I co-wrote some of the songs.
Shelia: What makes your album stand out from some of the rest?
Teairra: I talk about real everyday issues that people go through; however I’ll let other people be the judge.
Shelia: Who are some of your favorite singers?
Teairra: Prince, SWV, Jodeci, Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child and so many more.
Shelia: How has your life changed since your success?
Teairra: It’s changed a lot. I don’t get to go home and see my family as much as I want.
Shelia: Will you be going out on tour?
Teairra: Maybe later on this year.
Shelia: Will you be performing at any of the upcoming award shows?
Teairra: I will perform at the World Music Awards.
Shelia: What will be your next video?
Teairra:
No Daddy and it premieres tonight on
106 & Park.
(Note: If you missed the video premiere, you can request it on BET's website).
Shelia: Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?
Teairra: Thanks for everything. I really appreciate it. The album is in stores now.
