The Hidden Staircase, A Nancy Drew Mystery

The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene is the second story in the Nancy Drew series. Nancy Drew is a blonde teenager who loves to solve mysteries. She lives with her father, Mr. Carson Drew and housekeeper, Hannah Gruen. Her mother has passed away before the series starts.

Nancy Drew is asked by her friend, Helen Corning, to solve a mystery. The old family mansion in Cliffwood is haunted! Helen Corning's family needs her help.

Meanwhile, Mr. Drew, a lawyer, is working on a case for the railroad. People are complaining the railroad forged signatures to get their property. Mr. Drew knows the signatures are legal. He has to prove it.

Nancy and Helen arrive in Clifford. Some strange things happening. Food is missing. A necklace is stolen. Strange music wafts through the old place. Knowing haunted houses do not exisit, Nancy is determined to discover the truth.

If things were worsening for Helen's family, things become worse in Nancy's. Mr. Drew, Nancy's father, is kidnapped. Who has him? Where is he?

Nancy Drew has problems. Will she solve The Hidden Staircase mystery? And, most important of all, will she discover her father's whereabouts?
