Children’s Book Review - Papa, please get the moon for me
Eric Carle does it again with this delightful introduction to the phases of the moon. Every father wants nothing more than to make their child’s dreams come true, and Monica’s father is no different. In this story, little Monica tries so hard to touch the moon, but is unable to, no matter how far she stretches. She pleads with her father to bring her the moon, and he does everything he can to oblige her request.
Throughout this story, you see the moon wane and wax, get small and grow large again. Not only does this story represent how a parent will try and do what they can to grant their children’s wishes, it serves as a wonderful story to introduce children to such conceptual themes as astronomy, the solar system, and lunar phases.
In addition, Eric Carle’s artistry is unsurpassed in the field of children’s literature. This book is the next best thing to actually bringing the moon home!
