NaSha – Her Story

Shelia Goss: Did you always know you wanted to be a singer?
Na’Sha: Always. I’ve known since I was five years old. I started singing in the church choir.

Shelia: How long did it take you to get your record deal?
Na’Sha: It took awhile. I started shopping my demo at 18 and ran into a couple of stumps in New York City. At 19, I finally got the deal with Pure Records.

Shelia: If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing and why?
Na’Sha: I don’t think I could see myself doing anything else. I went to college and studied pre-law. I was going to be a lawyer. Everybody say I can argue my way out of anything.

Shelia: Did you write any of the songs on your album?
Na’Sha: I wrote them all except from one.

Shelia: How would you categorize your music?
Na’Sha: It’s mainly R & B. I have a lot of different styles: Pop, R & B, Straight Hip-Hop & Blues. Everything you want to listen to is on this album.

Shelia: What makes your album stand out from others?
Na’Sha: It’s well rounded. You can’t pinpoint what kind of style it is. It has all styles and not just a straight R & B Flavor.

Shelia: Who are some of your favorite singers?
Na’Sha : Gospel singer, Kim Burrell, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner.

Shelia: How has your life changed since your success?
Na’Sha: It hasn’t changed much. I try to keep humble and remember my roots.

Shelia: Have you started filming any videos?
Na’Sha: I should be filming videos in the next couple of weeks.

Shelia: What will be the first video?
Na’Sha: The single FIRE.

Shelia: You got a chance to work with some “hitmaker” producers such as Scott Storch, James Poyser, Sting International and R&G. How did that come about?
Na’Sha: I met my producers through my record company. I was very fortunate.

Shelia: Is there anything else you would like to share with your fans?
Na’Sha: The album drops September 20. Word of advice: Don’t listen to anybody’s nos...just your yeses.

Shelia: Do you have a website?
Na’Sha: www.purerecords.com or http://www.na-sha.com/
