In honor of the nation's workforce this Labor Day, I'd like to take this opportunity to express appreciation for all of those who dedicate themselves to the service of others. In our society, those who work the hardest and provide the most valuable service to the rest of us are frequently underpaid and unappreciated. Fast food workers, waitstaff, grocery store workers, farmers, child care staff and many others make our lives easier and are critical to the successful functioning of our society.
Special appreciation is due the troops who have sacrificed so much for our safety and freedom and to the police, firefighters, emergency workers and military who are currently saving and helping rebuild lives here at home.
