Free Web Site and Tools Package

The Bravenet free site has been featured before in a Bellaonline Musician article about promoting your own music and art online. We concluded that you can use the Internet and a web site along with many other online strategies such as Blogs, Band Newsletters, Ads and so on, to effectively promote your band or indeed any subject. Here's a quick look at some of the Band online strategies to consider, but these strategies apply to any web site or promotion.

Online Strategies
  • Set up a band web-site - even if you have no previous experience this can be done with relative ease. Upload and present pictures of the band, demos, backgrounds etc. Free web sites and tools are available - links below.
  • Promote a weekly fan-zine from your band web site, at gigs etc., include tour dates, gigs, photos etc.
  • Create and Sell your music/products.
  • Traffic Exchanges - use these to boost your Band/Music site and name - just by surfing.
  • Learning and use SE (Search Engines) and online Directory tactics eg place reciprocal links to boost Google and Yahoo ratings, submit music or articles to already established traffic magnets that link to your site and so on.

Create Electronic Media

Today, you can also create your own electronic goods at home such as CDs, E-Books, Articles, Reports and so soon, and cross promote all of these together across the Internet. Even design nappies with your band logo on them (true ;)! - and sell them online or at gigs if you must. This creates a snowball type of effect for your band or project and once you get rolling (easy enough), it's very easy to add to.

So with this in mind, I managed to get the time together and looked into the Bravenet package August, and now I'm quite familiar with it. I've been meaning to do this and add to the previous article for a while now. Actually after further investigation, I'm considering moving one or more of my early web sites to them.

But anyway as I was looking at their free web site package, it really struck me how much you actually get tools-wise with it. For starters you can choose from a huge collection of professionally designed web-site templates. A few clicks and it's done. Then add your content and free tools - it's very easy to build upon it this way. Ok the free site and tools is advertising supported but hey - the option to upgrade and remove these is there for those who want to.

Here's a demo site I put together quite fast using the Online Wizard. Click the Piano piccie below to have a quick look.

And the cost of this "gaggle" of tools? ... that should probably read "collection" or what about "bundle" of tools? It's free to all and anyone who can wield a trusty mouse! I like it immediately.

Check out more great free tools and services like the Guest-Book ... ... My Photos, Fun Tools, and Forums, that the one and only Bravenet offers here I think it's a winner.

All in all a winner for those interested in going online. But if it's a "serious" business site you're interested in, here's my choice by far - my current hosts SBI. Much more than just a hosting package - almost a way of life :)! See the 5 Pillar Club for more info - includes a website/building/traffic/sales free university.
