December brings with it a large number of photo opportunities. Many scrapbook websites may suggest this month to create a special album (or mini album) with some of those photos. It can be a lot of fun to really document this month in photos. Here’s one way to create a Christmas or December photo album. Make it a challenge to take a photo each day and write down a little blurb about the photo or about what happened that day. Keep it all in a notebook to complete the album in January or work on it each day, maybe catch up for the whole week on one day.
Here are some photo ideas, just check them off as they are completed. They do not have to be completed in any specific order.
.Each child – think about this, if the project is done each year, each child has a “growth” photo!
.Decorating the house (outside)
.Decorating the house (inside)
.Decorating the tree
.Buying gifts – just watch out putting them on Facebook!
.Family dressed up
.Baking cookies – show off the types of cookies or how many made
.Take a photo at church
.Make sure to have someone take a photo of the person taking the photos!
.How about some party photos? (Maybe get some Flip Flaps if they are really bad and make them more hidden.)
.If this is the time of year that family comes out of the woodwork? Make sure to get a photo.
.Making snow angels or snow ball fight
.Take a photo of the dog(s) outside in the snow
.Take a photo of the cat(s) looking at the tree or sleeping under it or tipping it over (if that’s what they do.)
.The presents under the tree
.A New Year’s Eve photo
.How about a photo showing what gifts are being returned?
.The family Christmas card
.A family photo
.Document a family or holiday outing, like seeing Christmas lights or going out for cider
.Someone under the mistletoe
.Take a photo in a Santa Hat (or some other festive garment)
.Add photos of the children with Santa
.Photos of it snowing
.It’s not ALL about Christmas, December is filled with regular crazy days too – take a photo that shows that off!
Have fun with the whole project! If it is too busy one day, allow for that. Take a few photos on another day and use them to fill in. Maybe take a photo or two of the lights or decorations that can be put on the layout, then just add a story about the day or a quote from a Christmas story or song. (If the celebration is minimal or a different holiday altogether, that’s ok too, just make a slight adjustment to the suggestion or take more photos of what the days actually look like!)
