Top Ten Crystals

In my work as a Crystal Healer I use dozens of different crystals on a regular basis, but there are some stones that are so useful that I would recommend them to anyone who wants to tap into crystal energies. These are my personal top ten:

1. Rock quartz points
2. Rose quartz
3. Black Tourmaline
4. Lepidolite
5. Amethyst
6. Mangano calcite
7. Garnet
8. Blue lace agate
9. Honey Calcite
10. Fluorite

1. Rock quartz points
Rock quartz is the most versatile of all the crystals I work with. If you buy no other crystals I would recommend two smallish clear quartz points. Rock quartz gives a sense of clarity. You can use the points to perk your energy up by holding one in your left hand, point upwards towards your wrist and one in your right hand, point downwards towards your fingers. After a few minutes you will probably notice some tingling sensations as the quartz boosts the natural energy flow of the body.

2. Rose quartz
Rose quartz is the supreme nurturer. It is particularly good for women who need to learn to love themselves just as much as they love and care for others. It can improve self-esteem and self worth. Rose quartz is readily available carved into heart shapes, which reinforce the key loving message of the stone. You can place rose quartz in the bedroom to bring more romance and tenderness to an existing relationship, or if single and wishing for a partner, place by your bedside with the intention of drawing new love to you.

3. Black Tourmaline
Black Tourmaline is the most protective stone I have come across. It is powerful and will dispel nightmares by being held or kept under the pillow. This stone can switch off psychic attack like someone flicking off a light switch. As well as protection it can help with grounding; place it between your feet for best effect. Additionally black tourmaline can help counteract the effects of jetlag, so carry it with you when travelling.

4. Lepidolite
This pretty purple stone can be found tumbled or in its natural mica form, referred to as a ‘lepidolite book’. For preference I use the natural form, but both can be effective. This for me is the ultimate sleep stone. A friend complaining of months of insomnia had her first proper night’s sleep when I mailed her lepidolite & she placed it beneath her pillow. Lepidolite is also very calming to the nerves and can be run gently over the skin, or in the first layer of the aura to soothe and relax.

5. Amethyst
This is a stone for spiritual seekers. It works primarily at the level of the brow and crown chakras. It can accentuate the intuition. Meditate with it to help still the mind and connect with the wisdom of your Higher Self. Amethyst is also deeply calming and many find that it helps them to sleep.

6. Mangano Calcite
Mangano calcite is the gentlest and kindest of all the stones I work with. Its baby pink energies are so soft and comforting they can be used with fretful babies & small children. Hold the mangano calcite against the child (never leave a small stone with a young child in case of choking). This stone also comforts after shock or disappointment, helping someone to open up and trust in the world again.

7. Garnet
Garnet is an invigorating crystal, particularly in its deep red form. It can bestow a feeling of enthusiasm and energy for life as well as its ability to stimulate the sex drive!

8. Blue Lace Agate
This soothing stone gives a feeling of deep peace. It is wonderful at calming anxieties and can help those of a nervous disposition. This stone is very good at the throat chakra and helps us express ourselves in a non-confrontational, but meaningful way.

9. Honey Calcite
Honey calcite has a cheering energy about it. It is very good for those who have a tendency to be gloomy, pessimistic or downright depressed. As well as its sunny nature I find it soothing held to a sore throat- external use only!!

10.Fluorite
Fluorite helps you through change in your life. It is a real friend when all else about you is uncertain. It can help you create new, healthier structures in a more inspired way. Do note that this is quite a soft stone, so it will tend to get chipped in jewellery.

If you'd like to look up more on any of these crystals or others in your collection I recommend The Book of Stones. This is my favourite reference book, well illustrated, clearly written and a satisfying read.
