Snow tubing is a great way to have some fun in the snow with the whole family. No equipment hassles, a lot of laughter and still good, wholesome exercise!
I had a literal blast the first time I went tubing, although, to tell you the truth, I thought my arms might come out of their sockets. The place where we went had a pulley system set up and you put your tube down at the bottom of the hill after your trip down and lay down on it. Then when a bar went by, you grabbed it and hung on for dear life until it pulled you to the top again. Okay, maybe for not dear life because you still stay on the ground but you are being pulled uphill. I always wondered what would happen if I let go of that bar. A domino, landslide effect with all those tubes and people behind me?
Some places have areas set aside strictly for tubing while others use areas such as the bunny slope after a certain time in the evening and use it for tubing only at that point.
Almost every place that offers skiing also has tubing or at least somewhere nearby probably will. It is fun to get your whole family together, each on thier own tubes and try to hold onto each others tubes while whooshing down the slope. Even with tubing, you can get into a wreck so be sure to stay alert for other people having problems or for people coming down while you are trying to get out of the way.
It is a great way to end the day with your family and friends!
Ski Safe, Play Safe, Stay Safe!
