When spring fever hits, its time to create some seasonal floral designs.
For spring floral arrangements, pastels are an obvious choice when it comes to color schemes. Soft and appealing, these awaken our interest in nature. Shell pink, pale yellow, robin egg blue, and lilac evoke a sense of hope.
This spring Iím using some new containers I got last summer in a department store where I happened to notice they were on the mark-down table. With their unusual shapes and pastel colors, theyíre just the thing for spring.
Other suitable containers would include decorative baskets and bowls. Michaels had a clearance on Easter baskets, and I found a lovely wooden one that was just perfect.
If you donít happen to have the perfect container for spring, just wing it. Transform what you have by wrapping it with plant leaves, gift wrap, decorative foil, or even fabric in pastel solids or prints.
Where should we display our spring florals? Entryways and foyers are prime choices. I also like them in the most frequently used areas of the house, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Many kinds of floral materials are suitable for the spring season. One that I particularly like is wheat grass. It just seems to symbolize the rebirth that takes place in the spring. With its soft green color and lush new growth, this can be used to create stunning displays for spring. It is seen in centerpieces and other arrangements for entertaining.
Some of my favorite flowers for spring are the pastel tulips and the hyacinths. I also favor lily-of-the-valley, softer toned irises, and blue grape hyacinths. When forced into bloom, branches of apple and other fruit trees can add spring color indoors.
After all our stems and foliage are in place, now its time to add some seasonal accents. For bowls, I like to add some green moss to conceal the top of the Oasis foam.
Pastels seem to be the perfect choice for floral accents in spring displays. Soft-toned ribbons and bows are obvious choices. Plant and flower picks in pastel colors work great so long as they arenít distracting. Depending on how you plan to use the floral arrangement, beautifully decorated Easter eggs can be used as well.
